see the thing with a fingerprint ELIMINATION test, you already know WHOM you're testing for. say for example, Kogoro and ShinRan go to a store and handle some suspicious items, like a pawn shop. well, those items were stolen, and the police show up to confiscate, test, and look for the former owners of those items along with the thief/theives. you don't go into the database and tell it to just start polling random sets. you point the ID computer at SPECIFIC sets of prints and tell it 'if you find these ping.' if the computer pings those prints you can ELIMINATE them from the field of possible unknown prints. because you know Kogoro and ShinRan didn't steal those items. they were just there looking for bargains.

THAT is what Conan was telling Takashi to do, test the vial for his fingerprints specifically and WHERE on the vial they should be. that would also prevent Takashi from having the vial's prints cross-referenced with anybody else on file like Shinichi's. i do agree his could be on file.

yeah, i saw the strange vial pop out of that guy's bag when Conan fell on it. i also watched him put it back into that guy's bag. then the hostess asked the guy to move the bag into the kitchen. so yep, it was quite obvious. whichever screenwriter worked on this one didn't work too hard.

Ah, that makes sense. Still seems quite risky for Conan to have his fingerprints on file.. or how would that even work? If you already have someone's fingerprints, and put them in again, wouldn't it like say or something..??

nah, it's a database. the pictures of the fingerprints/scans are labeled according to the 'card' filled out with the name bla bla bla. that's why criminals who have various aliases have to have those aliases registered by the police in their reports. the fingerprint cards have the aliases listed on them also.

for example, Joe Shmoe is a burglar, he likes to burgle, he's a 2nd story man. likes to get into places via windows etc. above ground floor. Joe's got 2 aliases, Joe Blow, and BoBoBo. ;) so. Fred Stevens a snitch, tells the cops he heard BoBoBo bitching about getting his ass stuck in a window and ripping his best burgling pants. so the cops go to said 2nd story window and fingerprints say, PING! there are some! so they dust and lift and later scan said prints into the computer. it goes 'what are search parameters'... and the cop types in 'BoBoBo and search others'. if Joe Shmoe's fingerprint card from his first collar as a burglar didn't list his alias BoBoBo .... the computer will find him via the 'search others' setting.

what Conan did was tell Det. Takagi "do an elimination search on my prints, they're on the bottom of the vial only. check the rest of the vial too." the prints are dusted and lifted off the vial and none other are found. Takagi types in under 'what are search parameters' ONLY 'elimination test, Conan Edogawa' and PING! they're a match. proving Conan as a touch and sight witness to the 'funny vial' and where it was originally stored when Conan tripped over the bag, the murderer's backpack. said 'funny vial' is then found in the blond spiky haired dude's baggage. but fingerprints say? BZZZZT! no prints other than Conan's. that proves Conan's theory, murderer moved funny vial from his bag to blond dude's bags. but murderer wiped the vial partially clean... probably only wiping where he for a fact knew there were prints. not the whole vial. also, if the vial was actually blond dude's? where are his prints on the vial? :>

if Takagi had typed into the computer 'Conan Edogawa and search others'... Shinichi's name could have popped up. :> big gamble by Conan. but. maybe he for sure knows he's never provided an elimination sample of his prints. but. shrug. i doubt it.

10:50, lol the first and only time I had (white) wine on my birthday I didn't like the taste of it so I put some crystal light (peach tea flavored) and ice cubes in it to taste better, it was ok and still took me hours to drink it. 11:13, I don't think anyone could have put anything in it when they were passing the cup and the light was off for only a moment. I think maybe the poison could have been on the rim, like the guy who originally had the cup drank from the opposite rim so he would get poisoned . Oh, I was wrong. Though he was really betting on it not mixing on it's own from the wine being poured into the cup, he could have been poised as well.

The bottle was originally his (bandana guy) and in his bag. Conan knocked over his bag and touched the bottle when putting it back. The hostess had the bandana guy move his bag out of the way afterwards. Later on the brown haired guy and Keiko show up. So how did the poison that Conan touched get into the bag of a person who wasn't even there, unless it was planted there to frame him.
